Jacksonville: Florida's dual-season service market
In short: Jacksonville gets about 80 days a year at 90°F or hotter, but also about 14 freezing nights, more than Tampa or Orlando. It's in one of the costliest states for Google LSA leads, and its HVAC search clicks top Florida's range in one 2026 dataset. KeptRing answers the calls your team misses.
Areas include Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Orange Park, Fleming Island, St. Johns, Fernandina Beach.
Not quite like the rest of Florida
Jacksonville sits far enough north to get a real winter. NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for Jacksonville International show about 1,228 heating degree days a year, nearly three times Tampa's, and about 14 nights at or below freezing, alongside about 2,803 cooling degree days and 80 days at 90°F or above (NOAA). That gives First Coast HVAC shops a heating season on top of a long AC season, and plumbers a few hard-freeze nights most winters.
It's also wet, with about 53 inches of rain a year and June the wettest month at about 7.6 inches.
Ad costs: the two numbers worth knowing
Local Services Ads
Florida is one of four states SearchLight found most expensive for LSA in March 2026: $65 or more per unique lead, topping out just above $75, labeled directional by the author (source).
Google Search ads
MB Adv Agency's 2026 HVAC dataset puts Jacksonville at about $31.50 per click, the top of its Florida range, with an 11.5% conversion rate. That's pay-per-click search ads, not LSA, and the dataset mixes observed and modeled data (MB Adv).
In both cases, these are leads you've already paid for. Under Google's current rules, a call you miss during your business hours is a chargeable lead once the caller stays on the line for more than 20 seconds, and a business-hours voicemail or automated greeting is "treated as a connected call" (Google Local Services Help).
Storm surge and river flooding
During Hurricane Irma in September 2017, the St. Johns River at downtown Jacksonville hit an all-time record of 5.57 feet, breaking the 1964 record from Hurricane Dora, and Duval County saw about 350 rescues (NWS Jacksonville). After events like that, plumbers and electricians are booked for weeks, and the office phone becomes the choke point.
KeptRing answers overflow calls during those weeks, takes each caller's details, and emails a summary marked by urgency so your team can work through the list.
If a caller reports gas, CO, or sparks
Peoples Gas serves Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, and much of Duval County. KeptRing tells a caller who smells gas to leave right away without touching switches or flames and, from outside, call 911 and Peoples Gas at 877-832-6747.
A carbon monoxide alarm gets the same instruction: everyone out, then call 911 from outside. For sparking, a burning smell, or anyone hurt, callers are told to get to safety and call 911. KeptRing gives no repair steps on these calls and flags them urgent in your summary. KeptRing is not an emergency service and doesn't replace 911, the utility, or your own on-call line.
Hear it on a real call
Call the demo at (317) 558-7718. Try "no heat, and it's 30 degrees tonight." Start with a free 14-day pilot, then $197/month per line if you keep it. No card to start, month-to-month, cancel anytime. Lead summaries come to you by email after every answered call; texting isn't live yet. Email to start a pilot.
