How KeptRing works
Short answer: you forward calls you can't answer to a KeptRing number. An AI receptionist trained on your business answers, says it's automated and that the call may be recorded, takes the job details, and emails you a summary right after the call. Your business number and your Google account don't change.
Setup
Intake (about 30 minutes of your time)
A short call or email covering your trades, service area, business hours, what you treat as an emergency, phrases you never want said, and who gets the lead emails.
We build your receptionist
We write the script, pick a voice, and set up the call flow. You get a test number to call before anything touches your real line.
You approve it
Change anything you want. Nothing goes live without your OK.
Turn on call forwarding
Most business phone providers support conditional forwarding: calls go to KeptRing when you don't answer within a few rings, when the line is busy, or after hours. Your number stays the same, and so does the Google LSA forwarding number that rings it. We'll walk you through your provider's settings.
Run the 14-day pilot
See every call KeptRing answers. Keep going at $197/month, or stop and owe nothing.
What callers hear
Every call starts with a disclosure, before any conversation. For your shop it would sound like:
"Thanks for calling [Your Company]. This is the virtual assistant, and this call may be recorded. What's going on today?"
From there it works like a calm dispatcher:
- Safety first. Gas smell, hissing line, or CO alarm: "Please leave the house now, don't flip switches or use flames, and once you're outside call 911 or your gas utility's emergency line." Sparking, burning smell, or injury: get to safety and call 911. No repair instructions.
- Triage. Separates emergencies (no heat in freezing weather, active leak, sewage backup, no water) from routine work (maintenance, estimates, slow drains).
- Intake. Name, callback number read back to confirm, service address, the problem, and a preferred time window.
- Recap. One-sentence summary and "Did I get that right?" before it says goodbye.
- Honest limits. It won't quote prices, promise arrival times, or make up facts about your company. If asked, it says the team will confirm.
- Never human. Asked "Are you a real person?", it answers: "I'm an automated assistant. I can take the details and the team follows up."
Want to hear it? Call the demo line at (317) 558-7718. It plays a fictional shop, Summit Heating & Plumbing. Tell it you're a contractor and it will step out of the role and explain KeptRing.
What you get after each call
A lead summary by email right after the call. Here's an example built from a fictional test call:
Subject: New lead (URGENT TODAY): no heat, Fishers
Caller: Dana R.
Callback: (317) 555-0142
Address: Maple Ridge Dr, Fishers, IN 46038
Issue: Furnace not igniting since last night; thermostat reads 58°F
Urgency: urgent_today
Wants: This afternoon
Notes: Has a toddler at home. Asked about cost; told pricing
is confirmed by the team.

Texting After carrier registration
US carriers require business texting to be registered (A2P 10DLC) before it can be sent. Once KeptRing's registration is approved, you'll be able to get lead alerts by text, and callers who hang up can get a text back. Until then, summaries go by email only, and we won't text anyone.
How this fits with Google Local Services Ads
LSA calls come through a Google forwarding number that rings your business phone. Google decides whether a call is a chargeable lead. KeptRing doesn't change that, and it never logs into your Google account.
What changes is what happens to a call you'd have missed. Under Google's rules since Oct. 1, 2026, a missed business-hours call where the caller stays on the line more than 20 seconds can be charged anyway (Google Local Services Help). With KeptRing, that caller reaches a receptionist that takes the job instead of a voicemail box.
Answered calls are judged under Google's normal answered-call rules, so KeptRing does not lower your lead costs. It gives every call you're paying for a chance to become a booked job. More in the FAQ.
Hear it before you decide.
Call the demo line and pretend you're a homeowner with no heat, or say you're a contractor and ask how it works. It costs nothing and takes two minutes.
The demo answers as Summit Heating & Plumbing, a fictional company. You'll hear that it's an automated assistant and that the call may be recorded.
